This week Bing removed from its affiliate programs a few companies that were forcing recipients of free plugins to download the Bing toolbar and make Bing the browser default search engine as well. The playable Google Pacman doodle on Google.com was taken down today, but you can still play the game if you download it. You play the game simply by clicking “Insert Coin” and if you insert a second coin you can play with Ms. Pacman too.

When Firefox was beginning to fire up they paid a hefty bounty of between 50 cents and one dollar for each new browser user that could be delivered. Quite a few people offering all kinds of free tools and games prospered by attaching the Firefox download to the freebie as a caveat.
