The Sing Off

The Sing-Off is an American television singing competition featuring a cappella groups. It premiered on NBC on December 14, 2009. and was produced by Sony Pictures Television. Tonight is the season two premiere of ‘The Sing Off’ and if you are like me you may need an introduction on the premise. Ten vocal groups around the country will be performing a capella to well known songs every week.

The 4-part first season was presented by Nick Lachey?, and the judges were Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nicole Scherzinger. They sound pretty good, but I have a feeling that they will be eaten alive by some of the more seasoned performers yet to come. We begin tonight with all of the groups singing “I’ve Got the Music in Me”.

Some sound better than others, but I’ll reserve judgment for now. NBC’s probably hoping so — the second season of its surprise reality hit ‘The Sing Off’ premieres tonight, featuring ten a cappella groups from across the country vying for a $100,000 prize and a recording contract. “The acts that are on this show are serious.

You can really tell that this is what they do, this is something that they take very seriously and it makes the show that much better. It gives it that much more validity and value.” The show returns for its second season with celebrity judges, former a capella singer Ben Folds. “And who can pull that off night in and night out on stage and in front of a national audience.”
